Mayor Malone introduced City Manager Bob Herrera who presented <br />the certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial <br />Reporting System (CAFR Award), to Director of Finance Jeff <br />Litchfield and his staff. Mr. Litchfield introduced his staff <br />to Council: Finance Officer Linda Stubbs, Accounting <br />Supervisor Kathy Hutton, Accounting Technicians Lorie Tagert <br />and Shirley Mosley and Clerk Maria Ramos. Council and staff <br />congratulated Mr. Litchfield and his personnel on a job well <br />done. <br /> <br />5. Mayor Malone asked for citizen input and persons wishing to <br />address the Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone informed Council of a SERVE program involving <br />Shell oil Employees and Retirees who do volunteer repair <br />projects on elderly, homebound citizens' homes. Mayor Malone <br />turned the meeting over to Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Stan Sherwood who introduced Ms. Berta Hokanson and Mr. Tommy <br />Swearington of Shell oil Company. Mr. Swearington spoke to <br />Council regarding the SERVE Program, its accomplishments and <br />what they wished to provide the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />Councilperson Sutherland asked if a motion was in order to <br />support this endeavor and accept Mr. Swearington and Shell <br />SERVE's offer. Mayor Malone stated this project was not an <br />agenda item. Mr. Herrera stated some direction from the <br />Council by consensus building would be appropriate and <br />restated to Council the advantages this program could bring <br />to the senior citizens and the homebound of La Porte. <br /> <br />Council was unanimous in stating a positive position for a <br />proqram of this type in La Porte: <br /> <br />Bob Herrera delegated the job of coordinator for this project <br />to Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood. <br /> <br />Items 6, 7, 8 and 9 will be taken to executive session. <br /> <br />10. Council considered ordinance approving Interlocal Purchase <br />Agreement between the cities of La Porte and Bay town. <br /> <br />Human Resources/Purchasing Manager Louis Rigby led discussion <br />with the Council regarding the interlocal purchases. <br />
