There was no objection. <br />11. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />lease agreement between the City of La Porte and Harris County <br />for a Public Health unit. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1804 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE AND HARRIS COUNTY FOR A PUBLIC HEALTH UNIT; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to adopt Ordinance <br />1804 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />12. Council considered an ordinance adopting provisions of Article <br />8309h, Section 5(c), Texas Revised Civil Statutes. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1805 - AN ORDINANCE <br />ADOPTING THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 8309h, SECTION 5(c), <br />WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR EMPLOYEES OF POLITICAL <br />SUBDIVISIONS, TEXAS REVISED CIVIL STATUTES; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to adopt Ordinance <br />1805 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. Council considered a resolution authorizing condemnation of <br />10 foot water line easements on Spencer Highway. <br />This item was presented as Resolution 92-01, and is necessary <br />due to owners of three lots on Spencer Highway being unwilling <br />to grant an easement to the City of La Porte for a water line. <br />
