Carlos Smith Engineers <br />and Surveyors, Inc., by adopting Ordinance 1809. Second by <br />Councilperson Skelton. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance authorizing the City Manager <br />to execute an agreement with Manning Engineering for <br />professional engineering services for rehabilitation of <br />Hillridge bridge. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1813 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND MANNING ENGINEERING CORPORATION, FOR PROFESSIONAL <br />SERVICES FOR THE REHABILITATION OF HILLRIDGE BRIDGE; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1813 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. Council considered an ordinance closing the alley between Lots <br />1 through 7 and 8 through 14, in Block One of Sylvan Beach <br />First Subdivision. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1814 - AN ORDINANCE <br />VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 1, SYLVAN <br />BEACH, FIRST SUBDIVISION, IN THE JOHNSON HUNTER SURVEY, A-35, <br />LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1814 as read by the City Attorney.
