Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />8. Council considered an ordinance authorizing and approving a <br />contract for City-wide paving project. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1845 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND DERK HARMSEN CONSTRUCTION CO., INC., FOR A CITYWIDE <br />PAVING PROJECT, CITY OF LA PORTE PROJECT X91-4402; <br />APPROPRIATING NOT TO EXCEED $86,703.90 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Ordinance <br />1845 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. Council considered approving annual contract with Harris <br />County for fire protection in unincorporated areas (zone 34). <br />Second by Councilperson Thrower. Council considered setting a public hearing date for Ordinance <br />1501 amendments, regarding bed and breakfast regulations. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to set the public <br />hearing date for July 13, 1992. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
