Wingo, Tammy Bittick and Tom Light, for their efforts in rescuing Morgan's Point Mayor Russell Applebe and his son Jason after their sail boat capsized in rough waters during a squall. Mayor Applebe added his personal thanks to the recipients. 7. Mayor Malone called Public Hearing A to order at 6:26 P.M. This hearing was regarding proposed amendments to Ordinance 1501, city of La Porte Zoning Ordinance, regarding bed and breakfast regulations. Mark Lewis reviewed the amendments for Council. Several questions from Council were answered. The Mayor asked for public input; there was none forthcoming. The Mayor adjourned Public Hearing A. Public Hearing B was called to order at 6:35 P.M. This hearing was regarding a request to rezone 13.5632 acres being a part of a 38.2800 acre tract and part of and out of Outlots 692 and 693 of the W. B. Lawrence La Porte Outlots SUbdivision, from Mid-Density Residential (R-2) to Business Industrial (BI). Mark Lewis reviewed the request for Council, and stated that the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission was to deny the request. Several questions from Council were answered. Attorney Dick Gregg, representing the property owners, addressed Council to ask for favorable consideration of the request. The Mayor asked for public input. Mr. Ray Roberson addressed Council, stating he was against the rezoning from a resident's standpoint, expressing his concern that some type of dangerous chemicals might possibly be stored at the facili ty. Mr. Charlie Young addressed Council to oppose the rezoning from a standpoint that statements made by Mr. Gregg regarding no expansion in that area having been made since 1983, that due to the recession, little expansion has been done anywhere. There being no further input, the Mayor adjourned Public Hearing B. 8. Council considered an ordinance amending Ordinance No 1501, the city of La Porte Zoning Ordinance, Article III, Section 3- 100; Article V, Section 5-600, Section 5-800; Article VI; Article X, Section 10-609.
