Council considered an ordinance authorizing update of service credits and increased annuity payments through the Texas Municipal Retirement System. Councilperson Maxwell removed himself from the Council table for this item. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1875 - AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, "UPDATED SERVICE CREDITS" IN SAID SYSTEM FOR SERVICE PERFORMED BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH SYSTEM WHO PRESENTLY ARE IN THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to adopt Ordinance ,1875 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None Councilperson Maxwell returned to the Council table at this point. 9. Council considered authorizing the Director of Finance to amend various operating budgets. Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to authorize the Director of Finance to amend various operating budgets. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays.
