Mayor Malone, Councilperson McLaughlin, and Mrs. Flo Schelling <br /> presented Centennial certificates of Appreciation to Herman <br /> and Arlene Berges, the La Porte Lions Club, and Brian <br /> Sterling. <br /> 5. Employee of the Quarter award for July, August and September, <br /> 1992, was presented to Ramon Marrujo. He received a plaque <br /> from the City and words of praise from his supervisor, Bill <br /> Fitzsimmons. <br /> 6. Preston Paul Parks had requested to address Council, but <br /> deferred his comments until the Workshop item addressing <br /> Myrtle Creek was held. <br /> 7. The citizens participation meeting regarding Community <br /> Development Block Grant Proposals was held. Several Council <br /> members suggested that the S.P.O.R.T. complex be submitted; <br /> Councilperson Gay requested that street lights in his district <br /> be submitted. <br /> Because there is not time to prepare a comprehensive proposal <br /> prepared for the S.P.O.R.T. complex and meet the deadline for <br /> this year, Planning Director Chuck Harrington will start <br /> preparing a S.P.O.R.T. complex proposal early this year to <br /> have ready to submit for next year's program. The street <br /> lights can be addressed under a current agreement with Houston <br /> Lighting & Power Company. Councilperson Gay will submit a <br /> list of requested street lights to Mr. Harrington. <br /> 8. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br /> contract between the City of La Porte and Champion Recycling <br /> Corporation for recycling concession. <br /> ~otion was made bv CouncilDerson Maxwe~l to adoDt Ordina~ce <br /> 1876. jiDDrOvina and aut\lQV.zina a contract with CbamDl..sm <br /> Recvclina CorDoration. COUNCIL CONSIDERED AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A <br /> LEASE FOR FIXED BASE OPERATION FOR THE LA PORTE MUNICIPAL <br /> AIRPORT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND GULF CENTRAL <br /> AVIATION, INC. <br />
