Councilperson Gay amended his nomination to name Guy Sutherland the Delegate and Jerry Clarke the Alternate Delegate. Councilperson Cooper seconded the motion. The vote was taken, and the motion passed, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 8. Council considered approving a resolution for fourth -year participation in computer aided dispatch (CAD) grant through Houston -Galveston Area Council. The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 93-02 - A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT REQUEST TO THE GOVERNOR'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR FUNDING TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR A PROGRAM KNOWN AS INFORMATION SYSTEMS/COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH. It was pointed out that on the second line of the Resolution, the word "County" should be changed to read "City." Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to approve Resolution 93-02 with the change noted. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 9. Council considered a resolution for second -year participation in DARE grant. The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 93-03 - A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT REQUEST TO THE GOVERNOR'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION FOR FUNDING TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR A PROGRAM KNOWN AS JUVENILE JUSTICE & DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACT. Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve Resolution 93-03. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays.
