After discussion, Council consensus was to present a resolution at the next meeting, with a possible age change. Mr. Herrera will contact the City Manager in Garland to see if there was a particular reason for the six years of age limit. The Mayor announced that Deer Park will sponsor this resolution at the next meeting of the Harris County Mayors' and Councils' Association. He asked the City Manager to inform Council of a draft letter to be sent to legislators to protest increased user fees and new fees mandated to municipalities, funds from which would be used to help balance the state budget. 10. Administrative Reports Mr. Herrera asked that, since the Council would be at a conference in Washington, D.C. on the date of the next regular meeting, that the meeting be moved to March 1. Council concurred with this suggestion. 11. Council Action Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone brought items to Council's attention. Councilperson Clarke introduced his nominee for the Planning and Zoning position, Ron Gragg. A legislative contact committee, consisting of Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower and Gay, was named by Mayor Malone. This committee will closely monitor pending or proposed legislation, and notify Council on items that affect municipalities. 12. Council adjourned into executive session at 7:17 P.M. to address the following items under V.A.T.S. - Article 6252-17, Section 2(E), (F), (G) and (R) - (Legal, Land Acquisition, Personnel, and Conference(s) with City Employee(s) to Receive Information): (A) Section 2(G) - (Personnel) - Receive report from City Manager on personnel matter; (B) Section 2(E) - (Legal) - Discuss Industrial District contracts; (C) Section 2(G) - (Personnel) - Discuss appointment to Planning and Zoning Commission, and an executive session addendum which was posted February 5 - Section 2(E) - (Legal) - Receive report from City Attorney on contractual matter. Council returned to the Council table at 9:10 P.M., with no action taken. 13. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was duly adjourned at 9:14 P.M.
