Minutes, Public Hearings <br />La Porte City Council <br />February 22, 1993, Page 2 <br />and Regular Meeting <br />Stone Castle to use an existing building as a facility <br />for manufacturing of synthetic stone products. <br />Mr. Henry Blair, owner of Stone Castle, addressed Council <br />to explain what his company does and how it does it, and <br />showed a sample of the product. <br />Planning Director Chuck Harrington reviewed the request. <br />Mayor Malone asked for public input. There was none. <br />Councilperson Gay spoke for Mary Carella, who had been <br />asked by a property owner to represent them. She had <br />known nothing of the request or anything about the <br />business. Councilperson Gay had explained it to her, and <br />she had found it to be satisfactory. <br />Mr. Harrington stated that the recommendation of the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission is to approve the Special <br />Conditional Use permit for Stone Castle Industries. <br />The Mayor adjourned Public Hearing A at 6:18 P.M. <br />B. The Mayor opened public hearing B at 6:18 P.M. This <br />public hearing was a request of Houston Shell & Concrete <br />for a Special Conditional Use permit for 12803 Old La <br />Porte Road, to allow construction and operation of a <br />concrete batch plant. <br />Mr. Harrington reviewed the request for Council. <br />Mayor Malone asked for public input. Mr. Patton <br />Caldwell, representing Houston Shell & Concrete, <br />addressed Council and gave details of their operations. <br />There was no other public input. <br />Mr. Harrington gave the recommendation of the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission, which was to approve the Special <br />Conditional Use permit with two conditions added. <br />The Mayor adjourned Public Hearing B at 6:25 P.M. <br />6. Council considered approving request of Stone Castle <br />Industries for Special Conditional Use permit # SCU92-002. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve the <br />Special Conditional Use permit for Stone Castle Industries. <br />Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The motion carried, 9 <br />ayes and 0 nays. <br />
