Minutes, Public Hearings La Porte City Council February 22, 1993, Page 2 and Regular Meeting Stone Castle to use an existing building as a facility for manufacturing of synthetic stone products. Mr. Henry Blair, owner of Stone Castle, addressed Council to explain what his company does and how it does it, and showed a sample of the product. Planning Director Chuck Harrington reviewed the request. Mayor Malone asked for public input. There was none. Councilperson Gay spoke for Mary Carella, who had been asked by a property owner to represent them. She had known nothing of the request or anything about the business. Councilperson Gay had explained it to her, and she had found it to be satisfactory. Mr. Harrington stated that the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission is to approve the Special Conditional Use permit for Stone Castle Industries. The Mayor adjourned Public Hearing A at 6:18 P.M. B. The Mayor opened public hearing B at 6:18 P.M. This public hearing was a request of Houston Shell & Concrete for a Special Conditional Use permit for 12803 Old La Porte Road, to allow construction and operation of a concrete batch plant. Mr. Harrington reviewed the request for Council. Mayor Malone asked for public input. Mr. Patton Caldwell, representing Houston Shell & Concrete, addressed Council and gave details of their operations. There was no other public input. Mr. Harrington gave the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission, which was to approve the Special Conditional Use permit with two conditions added. The Mayor adjourned Public Hearing B at 6:25 P.M. 6. Council considered approving request of Stone Castle Industries for Special Conditional Use permit # SCU92-002. Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve the Special Conditional Use permit for Stone Castle Industries. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays.
