Council considered a resolution urging Governor and <br />Legislature of the State of Texas to adopt and enact <br />legislation providing capital punishment for persons who abuse <br />and murder children. <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 93-04 - A RESOLUTION <br />URGING THE GOVERNOR AND LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS TO <br />ADOPT AND ENACT LEGISLATION PROVIDING CAPITAL PUNISHMENT FOR <br />PERSONS WHO ABUSE AND MURDER CHILDREN, AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to adopt Resolution <br />93-04 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />13. Administrative Reports: City Manager Herrera reminded Council <br />of the subdivision developers who spoke on February 9 <br />regarding temporary real estate signs and asking for some <br />relief from the sign ordinance regulations. Mr. Herrera asked <br />for direction from Council on what staff should do. Consensus <br />was to put this on as a workshop item at the March 1 meeting <br />and Council would discuss it and give staff direction at that <br />time. <br />14. Council Action: Councilpersons Thrower, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke <br />and Mayor Malone brought items to Council's attention. <br />15. There was no executive session. <br />16.
