~" <br />l <br />. ,. ` ` • • <br />w <br />BY-LAWS <br />LEADERSHIP LA PORTE-BAYSHORE <br />ARTICLE I-PURPOSE <br />The purpose of the La Porte-Bayshore Leadership Program is to <br />encourage and foster the development of community leaders from all <br />segments of the La Porte-Bayshore area, specifically to <br />1. Identify and select highly motivated emerging leaders to <br />participate in the program. <br />2. Motivate and develop the potential leaders to assume the <br />responsibilities and opportunities inherent in the leadership <br />program. <br />3. Provide information to potential leaders on the key <br />organizational structure within a community. <br />4. Acquaint potential leadership with problems and needs of the <br />community. <br />5. Place program graduates in responsible positions within <br />community structures. <br />6. Develop the realization-that .leadership is not only an honor <br />but a public responsibility. <br />7. Provide opportunities .for communication between emerging and <br />established leadership. <br />8. Be a source of qualified and trained leadership for public <br />and private agencies, organizations, planning bodies, and <br />commissions. <br />9. Help participants learn how to strike a balance between <br />community and individuality, thereby enhancing the overall <br />quality of their lives and the ability to stay involved as <br />community leaders. <br />ARTICLE II-BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />Section 1. There shall be a Board of Directors of 9 members whose <br />duty is to establish policies and provide guidance in <br />such a manner as to promote the purpose of Leadership <br />La Porte-Bayshore. <br />1 <br />
