<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Minutes Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />June 14, 1993, Page 3 <br /> <br />Planning Director Chuck Harrington answered Council's <br />questions regarding real estate signs section of the proposed <br />amendments. <br /> <br />Chairman of Planning and Zoning commission Betty Waters <br />addressed questions from Council regarding the recommendations <br />of the Planning and zoning Commission regarding amendments to <br />ordinance 1501. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone closed the public hearing at 6:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone introduced the members of the Planning and zoning <br />commission who were present tonight, Chairperson Betty Waters, <br />members Dottie Kaminski and Eugene Edmonds and thanked them <br />for their long hours and hard work. <br /> <br />8. Council considered approving ordinance adopting the amendments <br />to the La Porte Zoning Ordinance 1501. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1501-P - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE 1501, THE CITY OF LA PORTE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE, ARTICLE III, SECTION 3-100; ARTICLE VI, SECTION 6- <br />400, TABLE A, COMMERCIAL; AND REPEALING AND REPLACING ARTICLE <br />X, SECTION 10-1000; ET. SEQ. PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON <br />VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY <br />OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED A SUM OF <br />NOT MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1, 000 . 00) FOR EACH <br />VIOLATION; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETING LAW; <br />PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to table Ordinance <br />1501-P until we have a chance to discuss it further. Second <br />by Councilperson Thrower. The motion to table Ordinance 1501- <br />P carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Porter, <br />Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None <br /> <br />9. Council considered an ordinance appointing members to various <br />boards and commissions to fill expired terms. <br /> <br />City Attorney recommended taking this item to executive <br />session. Council deferred this item to the executive session <br />and adjourned at 6:41 p.m. <br />
