The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6: 00 <br />P.M. <br /> <br />Members of city Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke <br /> <br />Members of City Council Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Members of city staff Present: Assistant City Manager John <br />Joerns, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, <br />Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Planning <br />Director Chuck Harrington, Director of Public Works Steve <br />Gillett, Director Parks and Recreation Buddy Jacobs, Buyer <br />Susan Kelley, Municipal Court Judge J. B. Williamson, City <br />Marshal Nelson Thorpe <br /> <br />Others Present: A number of citizens, two persons <br />representing Quantum Chemical Corporation and representatives <br />from the School District <br /> <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Thrower <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />October 25, 1993. <br /> <br />Motion was made bY Counciloerson McLaughlin to aoprove the <br />October 25 minutes as oresented. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />(councilperson Alton Porter was seated at the Council table at <br />6:05 P.M. after the vote) <br /> <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None <br /> <br />Ayes: <br /> <br />4. Mr. Pat Studdert, 511 S. Highway 146, President of the Board <br />of Trustees for the La Porte Independent School District, <br />invited Council to attend the "Gang Workshop Program" to be <br />held Saturday November 13th from 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., <br />continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. The <br />workshop will be held in the student center at the high <br />school. Mr. Studdert thanked Council for all of their <br />assistance in working with the school district over the years. <br />
