Second by Councilperson <br /> McLaughlin. The motion carried, 5 ayes and 0 nays and 2 <br /> abstain. <br /> (Councilperson Alton Porter was seated at the Council table at <br /> 6:07 P.M. after the vote) <br /> Ayes: Councilpersons, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, <br /> Maxwell, and Mayor Pro Tem Clarke <br /> Nays: None <br /> Abstain: Councilpersons Sutherland and Gay <br /> 5. Presentation for Employee of the Quarter - July, August and <br /> September 1993 was presented to Sandra Kincaid by Mayor Pro <br /> Tem Jerry Clarke. Sandra was rec,...,_ended by Human Resources <br /> Coordinator Kim Meismer. <br /> 6. There were no citizens asking to address Council. <br /> Councilman Gay pointed out that legal counselor, Mr. Barry <br /> Abrams, is present to address pending law suits and due to the <br /> fairly long agenda tonight, asked Mayor Pro Tem Clark if <br /> Council could meet with Mr. Abrams at this time in order to <br /> keep him from having to wait through entire agenda. City <br /> Manager Robert T. Herrera stated he had sent a notice to <br /> Council regarding the presentation of information for pending <br /> lawsuits. He stated if Council agreed they could adjourn and <br /> go into Executive Session at this time, if not, and Council <br /> feels it would like to go forward with the rest of the agenda <br /> items, we could do that, too. <br /> Councilman McLaughlin suggested Skipping directly to Item 12 <br /> on the agenda as there are several people present for this <br /> item regarding Bay Area Habitat for Humanity. Council could <br /> then go into Executive Session if this is agreeable. All were <br /> in agreement. <br /> 12. Consider approving and authorizing an agreement between the <br /> City of La Porte and La Porte Chapter, Bay Area Habitat for <br /> Humanity, concerning property in Block 128, Town of La Porte, <br /> Harris County, Texas. <br /> Mr. Herrera explained the program which would be entered into <br /> with Bay Area Habitat for Humanity and stated it was highly <br /> recommended by staff that we continue with this program. <br />
