• <br />Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />February 14, 1994, Page 6 <br />Councilperson Sutherland pulled item B and Councilperson <br />Maxwell pulled item D for discussion. After discussion and <br />clarification, the items were presented for a vote. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to approve the <br />Consent Agenda as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. <br />The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />14. Administrative Reports: <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera reported to Council that San <br />Jacinto College Business Assistance Center wishes to enter <br />into a joint venture with the City of La Porte and the La <br />Porte Bayshore Chamber of Commerce to publish a "Guide to <br />Starting a Business in La Porte". Mr. Herrera stated staff is <br />working on the partnership plan and will return to Council in <br />60 to 90 days with a proposal request for Councils approval. <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns gave Council an updated <br />report on the F101 Drainage Improve Project (SPTC Railyard <br />Crossing). Mr. Joerns stated to Council he has visited with <br />Harris County Flood Control District and Harris County <br />Precinct 2 in the attempt to keep the project moving forward. <br />Mr. Joerns stated he had received a call from the Denver <br />office of SPTC, Susan K. Grable, Manager of Public Projects, <br />introducing herself as the new contact person for the street <br />closing/real estate transaction. Ms. Grable said the <br />construction agreement issue will be handled from their Denver <br />office by Mr. Denman. Also, a Houston attorney, Huqh <br />McCulley, will be heavily involved. Mr. Joerns stated with <br />SPTC's renewed interest in expanding their rail storage <br />capacity at Strang Yard he hopes the City will soon benefit <br />from SPTC's "needs". <br />15. Councilpersons Gay, Maxwell, Clarke, Sutherland, Cooper, <br />Thrower, Porter and Mayor Malone brought items to Council's <br />attention. <br />16.
