• • MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL FEBRUARY 28, 1994 1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 P.M. Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob McLaughlin, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke Members of Council Absent: Councilperson Alton Porter Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Robert T. Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Chief of Police Bobby Powell, Fire Chief Joe Sease, Director of Parks and Recreation Buddy Jacobs, Purchasing Agent Susan Kelley, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, Recreation Superintendent Tim O'Connor, Senior Services Superintendent Karen Beerman, Recreation Center Coordinator Marian Scott Others Present: Administrative Assistant to Commissioner Jim Fonteno, Mr. Louie Ditta; La Porte Librarian Peggy Warnock; La Porte Elementary Principal John Still and Assistant Principal Charlotte Ryne; Director of Communication La Porte I.S.D.; Lori Ray and daughters, and a citizen, Don Perry. 2. The invocation was given by City Attorney Knox Askins. 3. Council considered approving minutes of Regular Meeting February 14, 1994. Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve the minutes of February 14 as presented. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None 4. Parks and Recreation Director Buddy Jacobs, assisted by Senior Services Superintendent Karen Beerman, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Lori Ray. Mrs. Ray resigned her position as Recreation Therapist for the Special Populations Organized Recreation Therapy Program at the City of La Porte.
