• • <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 28, 1994 <br />1. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 <br />P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke <br />Members of Council Absent: Councilperson Alton Porter <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of Administrative <br />Services Louis Rigby, Chief of Police Bobby Powell, Fire Chief <br />Joe Sease, Director of Parks and Recreation Buddy Jacobs, <br />Purchasing Agent Susan Kelley, Assistant City Attorney John <br />Armstrong, Recreation Superintendent Tim O'Connor, Senior <br />Services Superintendent Karen Beerman, Recreation Center <br />Coordinator Marian Scott <br />Others Present: Administrative Assistant to Commissioner Jim <br />Fonteno, Mr. Louie Ditta; La Porte Librarian Peggy Warnock; La <br />Porte Elementary Principal John Still and Assistant Principal <br />Charlotte Ryne; Director of Communication La Porte I.S.D.; <br />Lori Ray and daughters, and a citizen, Don Perry. <br />2. The invocation was given by City Attorney Knox Askins. <br />3. Council considered approving minutes of Regular Meeting <br />February 14, 1994. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve the minutes <br />of February 14 as presented. Second by Councilperson Gay. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. Parks and Recreation Director Buddy Jacobs, assisted by Senior <br />Services Superintendent Karen Beerman, presented a Certificate <br />of Appreciation to Lori Ray. Mrs. Ray resigned her position <br />as Recreation Therapist for the Special Populations Organized <br />Recreation Therapy Program at the City of La Porte. <br />
