The motion carried, <br />9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Judge J.B. Williamson administered the oath of office to <br />Mayor, Norman Malone; Councilperson District 2, Mike Cooper; <br />Councilperson District 3, Bob Thrower. <br />Mayor Malone asked if the newly seated Councilpersons would <br />like to speak. <br />Councilperson Mike Cooper thanked everyone for their vote of <br />confidence and stated he was honored to be here for another <br />three years. <br />Councilperson Thrower thanked those voters who supported him <br />and was looking forward to the next three years with great <br />anticipation. He stated, "The last three years were quite <br />exciting and, hopefully, the next three will be as exciting." <br />Mayor Malone stated, "I appreciate the staff working as hard <br />as they did; and if we did not have the staff, the guidance, <br />and leadership of Mr. Herrera, we would not do as well." The <br />Mayor asked Mr. Herrera to pass this on to the staff. Mayor <br />Malone stated, "Council, you are easy to work with, and I <br />appreciate working with you very much." <br />7. Council considered an ordinance appointing a Mayor Pro Tem for <br />a term to begin May 9, 1994 and ending May 9, 1995. <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera stated, "At the conclusion of <br />a successful election, Council has normally elected among <br />themselves a Mayor Pro Tem. This item is before you tonight." <br />Councilperson Cooper nominated Councilperson Jack Maxwell to <br />serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Councilperson Porter nominated <br />Councilperson Gay to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Malone <br />asked if there were any other nominations. There being none, <br />
