Council considered <br />Ordinance 94-1981, naming a Mayor Pro Tem as follows: <br />Vote for Councilperson Jack Maxwell - <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Thrower and Maxwell <br />Nays: Councilpersons McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Clarke <br />Abstain: Councilperson Sutherland and Mayor Malone <br />Vote for Councilperson Deotis Gay - <br />Ayes: Councilpersons McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Clarke <br />Nays: Councilpersons Cooper, Thrower and Maxwell <br />Abstain: Councilperson Sutherland and Mayor Malone <br />Mayor Malone said, "It is always a hard decision to make when <br />electing a Mayor Pro Tem, and it is an honor to be considered <br />for this position. I will try not to miss any more meetings <br />than I have to." Mayor Malone proclaimed Councilperson Deotis <br />Gay as the Mayor Pro Tem for a term to begin May 9, 1994, and <br />end May 9, 1995, with the passing of Ordinance 94-1981. <br />8. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />contract between the City of La Porte and Frost Constructors, <br />Inc., for construction of a median break along Luella <br />Boulevard. <br />Director of Planning Chuck Harrington reported the information <br />and background regarding this proposed project and the Staff <br />recommendations. <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 94-1982 - AN <br />ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE AND FROST CONSTRUCTORS, INC., IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $13,497.05, PLUS A CONTINGENCY OF $674.95, FOR CONSTRUCTION <br />OF A MEDIAN BREAK ALONG LUELLA BOULEVARD; APPROPRIATING <br />$3,722.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />otion was made by Counciherson Clarke to_approve 94-1982 as <br />read by the Assistant City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Maxwell. The motion carried 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
