• • <br />Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />May 9, 1994, Page 5 <br />City Manager R.T. Herrera stated he would like to share with <br />the Council that he is very proud of Staff for their <br />accomplishment in working with San Jacinto College in order to <br />get to this point tonight. He said, "We were successful in <br />helping redesign the median cut. We actually saved the <br />College a considerable amount of money as well as the citizens <br />of La Porte and the people that travel down that roadway." <br />9. Council considered an ordinance authorizing the execution by <br />the City of La Porte for an Industrial District Agreement with <br />Air Products Manufacturing Corporation. <br />City Manager R.T. Herrera reported Staff has reviewed the <br />contract; and it meets all of the City's IDA standards, <br />requirements, and conditions. He recommended approval of this <br />ordinance. He stated, "All but five of the original <br />forty-eight of the companies from whom we received letters of <br />intent have fully executed a contract with the City, and <br />things are looking extremely well." <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 93-IDA-OI-B - AN <br />ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE OF <br />AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AGREEMENT WITH AIR PRODUCTS <br />MANUFACTURING CORPORATION, FOR THE TERM COMMENCING JANUARY 1, <br />1994, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2000; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />93 IDA O1 B as read by the Assistant City Attornev Second by <br />Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Councilperson Sutherland asked City Manager R.T. Herrera if we <br />could expect to received the other remaining five contracts by <br />the next council meeting. City Manager Herrera said he hoped <br />so. He stated, "The City Attorney, who was unable to be with <br />us tonight, has had conversations with the companies' legal <br />divisions; and I will have to defer that question to him." <br />Councilperson Sutherland asked if there were any problems? <br />Mr. Herrera said, "There are no problems, and it is just a <br />matter of getting everything signed." <br />
