<br />~ "t value and prrMdes important commetdal, recreational,
<br />and ecological benefits to all the citizens of the State of
<br />Texas; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress has dedored Galveston Bay to be a
<br />Nationally Significant Estuary; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Bay Day Steering andAdvisory Committees have been jJrmed
<br />from representatives of commen:e, 1falIi&ation, reaeation and conservation organizations to plan,
<br />conduct and support a public adebration of Galveston Bay scheduled for June 11 and 12, 1994,
<br />at Sylvan Beach Pork and named BAY DAY; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, BAY DAY willshowcose Galveston B~ its multiple uses, and its
<br />culturrd, historical, commerdal, educational, and recreational opportunities with entertainment,
<br />exhibits and water-related activities for families of all ages; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has long recognized the many diverse benefits
<br />and users of Galveston Bay.

<br />NO~ TIlEREFORE, I, NORMAN L MAWNE, MAYOR of the City
<br />of La Porte, do hereby proclaim June 11 and 12, 1994, as
<br />
<br />GALVESTON BAY WEEKEND
<br />
<br />in recognition of the many benefits and beauty of Galveston B~ and wge all citizens to be
<br />m\.\7re of and enjoy the many BAY DAY activities at Sylvan Beach Park on June 11 and 12,
<br />1994.
