Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />June 13, 1994, Page 4 <br />If successful and this comes to pass Resolution 94-04 will be <br />null and void, and the money will no longer be collected by <br />the County. <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 94-04 - A RESOLUTION OF THE <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE REQUESTING HARRIS COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS COURT TO COLLECT AN ADDITIONAL FEE ON EVERY <br />ADMISSION TO THE SAM HOUSTON RACE TRACK; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by,Councilperson Clarke to adopt Resolution <br />94-04 as read by City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Thrower. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Pro <br />Tem Gay <br />Nays: None <br />10. Council considered ordinance authorizing City Manager to enter <br />into a contract with Commodore Construction Corporation for <br />renovation of Police building. <br />Director of Planning Chuck Harrington led discussion with <br />Council regarding the request. Mr. Harrington reported staff <br />recommends the approval of this contract with Commodore <br />Construction Corporation for the amount $112,400 for the <br />interior remodelling of the jail facility and the creation of <br />a $5,000 contingency account. In addition, the staff <br />recommended to the Council during the FY 1995 Budget process, <br />allocating an additional $56,200 for the exterior remodeling <br />of the jail facility. Council discussed the recommendation <br />and addressed questions to Chief of Police Bobby Powell and <br />Director of Planning Chuck Harrington regarding the repair and <br />improvements to the municipal jail facility. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 94-1987 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND COMMODORE CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION, FOR INTERIOR <br />REMODELING OF THE JAIL FACILITY; APPROPRIATING $112,400.00, <br />PLUS A CONTINGENCY OF $5,000.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />
