Minutes Regular Meeting La Porte City Council August 8, 1994, Page 2 Spero Pomonis, 218 Bay Colony, La Porte, addressed Council in favor of the purchase by the City of two tracts of land for public purposes. Nick Cuccerre, 10601 North "H" Street, La Porte, addressed Council regarding his property which is zoned residential. Mr. Cuccerre reported he is holding a gathering of people at this address and has a function called team roping. He is asking for a special exception to continue this activity, which is a commercial project, being carried on in a residential zoned neighborhood. Mr. Cuccerre presented to staff a list of citizens who are supporting this project. 5. Council considered an ordinance amending Ordinance 1388, an ordinance adopting a fire code for the City of La Porte. City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1388-C - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1388, AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A FIRE CODE FOR THE CITY OF LA PORTE; CONTAINING A SAVING AND REPEALING CLAUSE; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) AND EACH DAY OF VIOLATION SHALL BE DEEMED A SEPARATE OFFENSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve the adoption of Ordinance 1388-C as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Clarke.. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays: None Mayor Malone requested Council to allow item 6 to be discussed later during this meeting. He said he is waiting on a report to present to Council regarding one of the alternates to be voted upon tonight. 7. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing an option agreement between the City of La Porte and Harold P. Pfeiffer, for the purchase by the City of La Porte of two tracts of land for public purposes.
