CONSIDER ORDINANCES AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE OF INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AGREEMENTS AS FOLLOW: <br />COMPANY NAME: ORDINANCE NO: <br />WITCO CORPORATION 93-IDA-30 <br />QUANTUM CHEMICAL CORPORATION 93-IDA-34 <br />Council considered ordinances authorizing the execution of <br />Industrial District Agreements with Witco Corporation and <br />Quantum Chemical Corporation. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE NO. 93-IDA-30 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE OF AN <br />INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AGREEMENT WITH WITCO CORPORATION, FOR THE <br />TERM COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1994, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2000; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF; AND <br />ORDINANCE NO. 93-IDA-34 - (A LIKE ORDINANCE WITH THE NAME <br />BEING QUANTUM CHEMICAL CORPORATION) <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to vote on Ordinance <br />93-IDA-30 and Ordinance 93-IDA-34 at the same time. Second by <br />Councilperson Sutherland. All were in favor. <br />After a short discussion of the Industrial District <br />Agreements, for clarification purposes, a motion to approve <br />was made. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve <br />Ordinance 93-IDA-30 and Ordinance 93-IDA-34 as read by the <br />City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion <br />carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />6. CONSIDER A RESOLUTIONAUTHORIZING AND APPROVING "AN OPEN <br />LETTER TO THE CITIZENS OF LA PORTE - FROM THE MAYOR AND CITY <br />COUNCIL" CONCERNING THE SETTLEMENT OF THE SOUTHERN IONICS, <br />INC.
