Ms. Allen also handed to Council copies of her <br />remark made tonight. <br />Randy Kendrick, 10012 Hummingbird, La Porte also praised the <br />City for its support of youth athletics. He thanked the La <br />Porte Police Department for their support and indicated the <br />City's efforts will have a positive influence on our children <br />lives. He thanked city management for the manner in which <br />they have handled ,this baseball situation. <br />Helen McFerren, 925 Oak Grove, La Porte, thanked EMS for <br />"saving her life". She also stated her support of a survey <br />which is being circulated supporting the development of local <br />shopping facilities in La Porte. Ms. McFerren said she is <br />against the purchase of the property known as the Seabreeze <br />Sailing Center and will also protest the dredging of Deer <br />Creek. <br />Ginnie Groda, 926 Seabreeze, La Porte, spoke stating she is <br />one of the citizens circulating a petition regarding Ordinance <br />94-1994. Ms. Groda indicated she is also against the purchase <br />of the property known as the Beasley property or Seabreeze <br />Sailing Center. She asked Council, "How many tax dollars have <br />been spent on studies such as the study for a hotel to be <br />built at Sylvan Beach?" Ms. Groda also addressed a concern <br />about ditches, street repairs, street lights, lower water and <br />tax rates, drugs, and a golf course which pays for itself. <br />Jarrell Burke, 1301 Bayshore Drive, La Porte, spoke as a <br />member of the Bayshore civic Association. Mr. Burke voiced <br />his objections to the comprehensive plan, and he addressed the <br />purchase of the Beasley property and the appraised value of <br />the property. He also questioned the cost of operating the <br />cities existing parks and how they are utilized by citizens. <br />Faye Preston Burke, 1301 Bayshore Drive, La Porte, spoke about <br />the comprehensive plan. She is opposed to the purchase of the <br />Beasley property for the purpose of building another city <br />park. She stated, "I hope you will not purchase this <br />property." <br />Howard L. Johnson, 317S. Carroll, La Porte, spoke regarding <br />youth baseball. Mr. Johnson indicated he is the President of <br />the La Porte Boys Baseball Association and read a letter of <br />appreciation from the association for the cities past support. <br />Mr. Johnson introduced several other citizens who are <br />attending the meeting tonight in support of La Porte Boys <br />Baseball Association. <br />
