<br />. e <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes Public Hearing and <br />Regular Meeting <br />La Porte city council <br />December 12, 1994, Page 5 <br /> <br /> <br />David Booth, 706 Sharon, Bay town , Texas, spoke in support of <br />his request for a Special Conditional Use Permit Request for <br />the purpose of allowing a mini-warehouse/boat R.V. storage <br />facility to be located at 11230 West Main street in La Porte. <br /> <br />Spero pomonis, 218 Bay Colony Circle, La Porte spoke on two <br />issues. First, his support of the La Porte Boys Baseball <br />Association. In his opinion, La Porte has no need for two <br />separate baseball' leagues, and he feels the city can not <br />afford additional parks to support two separate leagues. Mr. <br />pomonis suggested the new league should seek assistance from <br />Harris County in furnishing more parks. Second, he reiterated <br />his support for the purchase of the Beasley property for park <br />purposes. He indicated he feels the people who live near that <br />property and who do not want a park there are being selfish, <br />and they do not want other citizens to have what they have. <br /> <br />6. PUBLIC HEARING - A: TO RECEIVE CITIZEN COMMENTS REGARDING <br />PROPOSED UPDATES TO THE CITY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. ELEMENTS OF <br />THE PLAN FOR WHICH UPDATES ARE PROPOSED ARE AS FOLLOW: <br /> <br />THOROUGHFARE PLAN <br />OPEN SPACE PLAN <br />PEDESTRIAN PLAN. <br />SEWER PLAN. <br />WATER PLAN <br />STORM WATER PLAN <br /> <br />Mayor Malone opened the public hearing at 6:44 P.M. Director <br />of Planning Chuck Harrington reviewed the request, and he <br />commented that the City of La Porte has accomplish a lot of <br />the goals as set out in the Comprehensive Plan ten years ago. <br />Mr. Harrington reviewed the proposed update, and Mayor Malone <br />asked for public input. Fourci tizens spoke regarding the <br />plan update. Ms. Helen McFerren had questions on the sewer <br />system update. Ms. Ginnie Groda had questions regarding the <br />proposed boardwalk on the bay front on the Beasley property. <br />Ms. Faye Burke also had questions about the funding for a <br />proposed bay front boardwalk. Mr. Jerrell Burke made comments <br />regarding the proposed boardwalk on the bay in front of Happy <br />Harbor Methodist Home property. Recommendation from Planning <br />& Zoning Commission was for approval of the proposed <br />amendments, and staff concurred with the Commission's <br />recommendations. Mayor Malone closed the public hearing at <br />7:03 P.M. <br /> <br />7 . CONSIDER APPROVING RESOLUTION ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE (Res. 94-11) - C. <br />
