Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />February 27, 1995, Page 3 <br />Mayor Malone presented a proclamation to T. J. Walker <br />President of the 4-H organization, and Kim Edgeman, FFA <br />member, accepting for Matthew Childers President of FFA. <br />Delbert Walker spoke in support of the FFA/4-H program in La <br />Porte, Texas. Assisting in the acceptance of the proclamation <br />was Melton and Debbie Wolters. Mr. Wolters also spoke in <br />support of these two programs. <br />6. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS. AND CITIZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br />A. FLORENCE HELM WITH GARY GREENE REALTORS - PURCHASE OF <br />PROPERTY ON SOUTH BROADWAY <br />Ms. Florence Helm, 615 Bay Colony, La Porte, Texas. Ms. Helm <br />is a full time relator with Gary Green Realtors located at <br />17000 El Camino Real, Suite 201, Houston, Texas. Ms. Helm <br />spoke in support of the purchasing by the City of La Porte of <br />a 4 acre tract of wooded land in the 2300 Block of Broadway, <br />La Porte, Texas, which she and her agency are representing the <br />seller. This property is platted as Baygreen Colony. The <br />cost of the acreage is $425,000.00. <br />Mr. Melton Wolters, 10703 North "H" Street, La Porte, Texas, <br />spoke to Council regarding the upcoming La Porte Livestock <br />Show and Rodeo. Mr. Wolters, President of the La Porte <br />Livestock Show and Rodeo Association and representative of the <br />FFA/4-H Clubs, extended an invitation to Council and the <br />citizens of La Porte to attend their upcoming show on March <br />24th through 31st. Mr. Wolters thanked Council for their past <br />support. Mayor Malone stated Council's and the City's <br />appreciation for the work these organizations are doing. <br />7. CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE TEXAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT OF ELLINGTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, FOR <br />MUTUAL AID IN FIRE PROTECTION AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT <br />RESPONSE (Ord. 95-2021) - J. Sease <br />Fire Chief Joe Sease reported the summary and recommendation <br />to Council seeking approval of the ordinance authorizing the <br />City Manager to execute a contract with the Air National Guard <br />Group at Ellington Field. Chief Sease reported The Air <br />National Guard has some new legal requirements and are <br />requesting the City to execute a new agreement for basically <br />the same services as their present contract. This is only a <br />contract format change per new requirements from Washington <br />D.C. <br />
