Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />May 8, 1995, Page 2 <br />Mayor Malone proclaimed May 14-20, 1995, as Emergency Medical <br />Services Week. Accepting the proclamation were EMS Chief <br />Chris Osten and Paramedics Ray Nolen, Ty James, Ron Matejowsky <br />and Tim Murnane. Chief Osten announced a Golf Tournament will <br />be held on September 20th to raise funds for the local Toy <br />Drive. <br />5. PETITIONS REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br />Ms. Helen McFerren, 925 Oak Grove, La Porte, addressed Council <br />regarding the "Beazley Cemetery Property". Ms. McFerren <br />stated she has been in contact with the Department of <br />Antiquities Protection Texas Historical Commission, and they <br />have indicated the cemetery is eligible for a designation as <br />a State Archeological Landmark. To obtain this designation <br />the application must be signed by the property owner which <br />will be the City of La Porte. Ms. McFerren also reported a <br />conversation with Mr. Garon Hite, who is in charge of Cemetery <br />Law for the State of Texas. Ms. McFerren was told that graves <br />do not have to have their stones replaced, just the names of <br />the individual on a marker for eligibility for the referenced <br />Historical Marker. The application was delivered to the City <br />Secretary for further staff review and investigation. Ms. <br />McFerren asked Mr. Herrera to take into consideration the <br />names she had previously submitted for "responsible" people to <br />be placed on the committee to be formed for study of the <br />future development of the Beazley property. <br />6. CANVASS VOTES AND CONSIDER ORDINANCE DECLARING RESULTS OF THE <br />ELECTION OF COUNCILPERSON-AT-LARGE A; COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT <br />4; AND COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 5; HELD MAY 6, 1995 (Ord. 95- <br />2029) - K. Askins <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE NO: 95-2029 - AN ORDINANCE <br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE ON MAY 6, 1995, FOR THE ELECTION OF COUNCILPERSON-AT- <br />LARGE--POSITION A; COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 4; AND <br />COUNCILPERSON, DISTRICT 5; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Councilperson-At-Large --Position A <br />Bob McLaughlin 789 <br />Councilperson--District 4 <br />Deotis Gay 93 <br />
