0 • <br />Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />May 8, 1995, Page 6 <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 95-2033 - AN ORDINANCE <br />VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF WEST "F" STREET, <br />IN THE TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY,, TEXAS; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to approve Ordinance <br />95-2033 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />McLaughlin. The motion carried 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke, and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Mayor Malone invited Mr. & Mrs. Rahul Desai to stand and be <br />introduced. Mr. Desai addressed Council regarding their <br />intentions to open a 49 room Best Western Motel, construction <br />to start as soon as possible after Council takes action on <br />items 11 and 12 on tonight's Agenda. <br />12. CONSIDER AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A LICENSE FOR USE OF THE <br />SURFACE OF THE NORTH SIXTEEN (16) FEET OF A PORTION OF THE <br />WEST "F" STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY (Ord 95-2033-A) - M. Lewis <br />Chief Building Official Mark Lewis reported to Council the <br />summary and recommendation to consider a licensing ordinance <br />assigning responsibility for maintaining a 16' wide utility <br />corridor to the present and any future owners of the closed <br />portion of the 16" wide utility corridor located in a portion <br />the West "F" Street right-of-way. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 95-2033-A - AN ORDINANCE <br />GRANTING A LICENSE TO RAHUL DESAI AND WIFE, AMITA R. DESAI, <br />FOR USE OF THE SURFACE OF THE NORTH SIXTEEN FEET (N. 161) OF <br />THE PORTION OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF WEST "F" STREET BETWEEN <br />BLOCKS ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-FOUR (124) AND ONE HUNDRED FORTY-ONE <br />(141), TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, AND BETWEEN THE <br />EAST RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF STATE HIGHWAY 146 AND THE WEST <br />RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF 8TH STREET; RETAINING PUBLIC UTILITY <br />EASEMENTS; PROVIDING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SUCH LICENSE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETING LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Ordinance <br />95-2033-A as read by the City Attorney. Second by <br />Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
