CONSIDER ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 842AND 842-A, <br />ORDINANCES DESIGNATING CERTAIN LAND WITHIN THE EXCLUSIVE <br />EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />AS AN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT TO BE KNOWN AS "BAYPORT INDUSTRIAL <br />DISTRICT NO 11 (Ord 842-B) - R. T. Herrera <br />City Manager R. T. Herrera reviewed for Council the reasons <br />for the request. Mr. Herrera stated, "We need to redraw the <br />boundaries defining the outside parameters of the Bayport <br />Industrial District which will now include Southern Ionics." <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE NO. 842-B - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING ORDINANCE NO 842 AND 842-A, ORDINANCES DESIGNATING <br />CERTAIN LAND WITHIN THE EXCLUSIVE EXTRATERRITORIAL <br />JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AS AN INDUSTRIAL <br />DISTRICT TO BE KNOWN AS "BAYPORT INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT NO. 1 OF <br />LA PORTE, TEXAS"; RESERVING AND PRESERVING ALL RIGHTS, POWERS <br />AND DUTIES OTHERWISE REPOSING BY LAW IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to approve Ordinance <br />842-B as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />14. CONSIDER POLICY FOR PROVIDING POTABLE WATER SERVICE TO AREAS <br />OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF LA PORTE AND APPROVE FORM OF <br />WATER SERVICE AGREEMENT AND UTILITY EXTENSION AGREEMENT - J. <br />Joerns <br />City Manager R. T. Herrera brought to Council's attention to <br />the Workshop meeting held January 30, 1995, where Mr. Joerns <br />made a presentation to City Council defining a request which <br />was made by industry outside the City limits of La Porte <br />asking for potable water. Council was provided with spread <br />sheets and information regarding these requests. A potential <br />of eight (8) companies were requesting water. One was outside <br />the Bayport Industrial District, and Council did not wish to <br />
