Office of the Mayor <br />'W" <br />YDII <br />The American Cancer Society's Southeast Harris <br />County Unit is the sponsor for Relay For Life, a 24 <br />hour fund-raising event; and <br />WHEREAS, the goal of Relay For Life is to unite communities, businesses, and <br />organizations in a common effort to raise money for cancer research, education, and patient <br />services; and <br />WHEREAS, on March 29 and 30, 1996, various teams from the community <br />will meet at the track on the San Jacinto College -Central campus where alternating team <br />members will walk, run, roll, or stroll; and <br />WHEREAS, on March 29th at 10:00 P.M. candles, called luminaries, will <br />be lit in a special ceremony during the Relay For Life honoring loved ones whose life has been <br />touched by cancer; and <br />WHEREAS, anyone who wants to have a good time while raising money to <br />help in the fight against cancer should participate in Relay For Life and help support The <br />American Cancer Society s Southeast Harris County Unit. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, NORMAN L. MALONE, i11AYOR of the <br />City of La Pone, do hereby proclaim March 29 and 30, 1996, as <br />RELAY FOR LIFE DAY <br />in the City of La Porte, and urge all citizens to unite in an effort to raise money for the fight <br />against cancer. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF,1 have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal <br />of the City to be affixed hereto, this the 26th day of February, 1996. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />Norman L.
