PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br />There were no citizens wishing to address Council. <br />6. PUBLIC HEARING - TO CONSIDER AMENDING ORDINANCE 1501, THE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION <br />REGULATING ADULT ORIENTED BUSINESSES, AMENDING DISTRICT <br />REGULATIONS TO ALLOW ADULT ORIENTID BUSINESS IN A HEAVY <br />INDUSTRIAL (H-1) ZONING DISTRICT <br />OPEN PUBLIC HEARING <br />Mayor Malone opened the public Hearing at 6: OS P.M. <br />REVIEW BY STAFF <br />Director of Planning Guy Rankin reviewed the summary and recommendation by the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission regarding the request to amend the City's Zoning Ordinance relating to <br />the location and regulation of Sexually Oriented Businesses within the corporate limits of the City <br />of La Porte. <br />PUBLIC INPUT <br />The were no citizens wishing to speak either as an opponent or proponent regazding the <br />amendment recommendation. <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM PLANNING AND ZONING <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public heazing on August 7, 1996. At the close <br />of the hearing the Commission unanimously voted to recommend to City Council the approval <br />of this amendment. Mr. Rankin asked that Council review the ordinance and stated, "If you have <br />changes bring them to staff's attention. We will bring the ordinance back at a future meeting for <br />Council's approval." <br />(Councilperson Alton Porter was seated at the Council table at 6:23 P.M.) <br />
