Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />March 24, 1997, Page 4 <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr reviewed the summary and recommendation to <br />approve Ordinance 97-2167 to establish a formal Agreement between the City of La Porte and <br />the La Porte Boy's Baseball Association regarding the use of youth baseball facilities in the <br />City of La Porte. <br />City Attorney read: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE LA PORTE BOY'S <br />BASEBALL ASSOCIATION REGARDING THE USE OF YOUTH BASEBALL <br />FACILITIES; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to approve Ordinance 97-2167 as read by the City. <br />Attorney. Seconded by Councilperson Cooper. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />10. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH SAN JACINTO Y.M.C.A. FOR LIFEGUARD <br />SERVICES AT VARIOUS POOLS (Ord. 97-2168) - S. Barr <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Department Stephen Barr reviewed the summary and <br />recommendation to approve Ordinance 97-2168 to ratify and confirm the agreement between <br />the City of La Porte and the San Jacinto Branch of the Greater Houston Area Y.M.C.A. for <br />provision of life guarding services at the Brookglen park pool, Fairmont Park Pool, and San <br />Jacinto Pool for the 1997 swim season. <br />City Attorney read: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE SAN JACINTO <br />BRANCH OF THE GREATER HOUSTON AREA YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN <br />ASSOCIATION; APPROPRIATING $29,157.00 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve Ordinance 97-2168 as read by the City <br />Attorney.
