CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE <br />ESTABLISHING A CONSTRUCTION SPEED ZONE OF 45 MILES PER HOUR <br />ALONG A PORTION OF SH 146 (Ord. 97-2169) - S. Gillett <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett reviewed the summary and recommendation to approve <br />Ordinance 97-2169 to establish a construction speed zone along a portion of SH 146 at 45mph. <br />City Attorney read: ' AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING <br />CONSTRUCTION ALONG A PORTION OF SH146 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION <br />THEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to approve Ordinance 97-2169 as read by. the City <br />Attorney. Seconded by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />12. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING A RESOLUTION <br />STATING THE INTENT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL <br />ASSISTANCE FROM TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND <br />AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL CONTRACTS AND <br />AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS FOR IMPLEMENTATION AND <br />IMPROVEMENTS AT THE LA PORTE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (Res. 97-03) - S. Gillett <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett reviewed the summary and recommendation to approve <br />Resolution 97-03 to state the City of La Porte's intent to apply for financial assistance from <br />TexDoT for the La Porte Municipal Airport and authorizing the City Manager to execute all <br />contracts and agreements with the State of Texas. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Resolution 97-03 as presented. <br />Seconded by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />13. CONSIDER APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH CARTER & BURGESS FOR <br />ASSISTANCE WITH RENEWAL OF THE TNRCC PERMIT FOR DISCHARGE OF <br />TREATED WASTEWATER - S. Gillett <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett review the summary and recommendation to approve a <br />contract with Carter and Burgess for assistance with renewal of the TNRCC permit for <br />discharge of treated wastewater at a cost not to exceed $18,000. <br />
