<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />City Council Minutes 9-14-98 - Page 7 <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 98-2280 - AN ORDINANCE ADDING <br />PROVISIONS FOR GENERAL USE OF PARKS, PARK AREAS, PARK RELATED <br />FACILITIES, AND RENTAL FACILmES COMPRISING THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE PARKS SYSTEM, BY ADDING NEW SECTIONS 50-1 THROUGH 50-3, <br />INCLUSIVE, TO CHAPTER 50 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING THAT <br />ANY PERSON VIOLATING ANY PROVISION OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE <br />DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE <br />PUNISHED BY A FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE HUNDRED <br />DOLLARS ($500) FOR EACH OFFENSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION OF THE CAPTION <br />OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Sutherland to approve the Ordinance with the <br />suggested amendment as oudined below. Seconded by Councilperson Gay. The <br />motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Amendment to include in (13) VEHICLES IN PARKS GENERALLY - add the <br />following statement. Any approved use of motorized vehicles on park areas must <br />recognize the pedestrian right-of-way. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Gay and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />19. Council considered approval of the proposed Ordinance providing for permitting the <br />special use of the City of La Porte Parks System. <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation Director Stephen Barr presented summary and recommendation. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 98-2281- AN ORDINANCE ADDING <br />PROVISIONS FOR PERMITTING THE SPECIAL USE OF PARKS, PARKS <br />AREAS, PARK RELATED FACILITIES, AND RENTAL FACILITIES <br />COMPRISING THE CITY OF LA PORTE PARKS SYSTEM BY ADDING NEW <br />SECTIONS 50-10 THROUGH 50-17, INCLUSIVE, TO CHAPTER 50 OF THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; CONTAINING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Ebow to approve the Ordinance as presented by <br />the City Attorney. Seconded by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths and Mayor Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Councilperson Gay not present when vote was taken. <br />
