CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, <br />and Mayor Malone. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Emolovees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney John Armstrong, Assistant City Manger John Joerns, Assistant <br />City Manager Jeff Litchfield, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Director of Administrative <br />Services Louis Rigby, Director of Planning Doug Kneupper, Director of Public Works <br />Steve Gillett, Acting Police Chief Aaron Corrales, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia <br />Alexander, Administrative Assistant Carol Buttler, Director Parks and Recreation <br />Stephen Barr, Revenue Supervisor Kathy Powell, Secretary Crystal Scott, Planner <br />Masood Malik, Purchasing Agent Susan Kelley. <br /> <br />Others Present: Dennis Dunham, David Hawes, James and Barbara Suber, Summer <br />Cacciotti, Spero Pomonis, Decker McKim, Lin Pfeiffer, Colleen Hicks, Mike Mosteit, <br />Bruce Meismer, David Webb, Eddie Gray. <br /> <br />2. Ron Trimmer delivered the Invocation. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Special Called Meeting and Workshop <br />Meeting on May 17, 1999. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Counciloerson Sutherland to aDo rove the minutes of the Soecial <br />Called Meetine: and Workshoo Meetine: on Mav 17. 1999 as oresented. Second by <br />Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAX PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br /> <br />Dennis Dunham - 816 S. pI Street, La Porte, Texas 77571 - Requested the city to <br />reconsider the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone and consider a referendum to get the <br />citizens involved. The citizens need to be educated. He advised Council the general <br />public did not have a good understanding of the issue. <br />
