City Council Minutes — March 28, 2000 — Page 2 <br />5. PROCLAMATIONS/PRESENTATIONS <br />A. Mayor Malone and Police Chief Reff presented a watch to retiring Police CID <br />Sergeant Mike Edgmon in recognition of his years of service to the City of La <br />Porte. <br />6. Open Public Hearing — Mayor Malone opened the Public Hearing at 6:10 PM. <br />Review by Staff — City Planner Brad Ellis presented summary and recommendation <br />concerning amending chapter 106, section 106-521, table A — Industrial Uses, section <br />106-522, table B — Industrial Area Requirements, section 106-751, Shipping Containers, <br />and section 106-800, Landscaping, of the code of ordinances, as said sections pertain to <br />shipping containers. <br />Public Input —No public input. <br />Recommendation of Planning and Zoning/Staff — Planning & Zoning and Staff <br />recommend amendment to the Zoning ordinance related to the outside storage of shipping <br />containers <br />Close Public Hearing — Mayor Malone closed the Public Hearing at 6:30 PM. <br />7. Council considered approving an ordinance amending chapter 106, section 106-521, table <br />A — Industrial Uses, section 106-522, table B — Industrial Area Requirements, section <br />106-751, Shipping Containers, and section 106-800, Landscaping, of the code of <br />ordinances, as said sections pertain to shipping containers. <br />City Planner Brad Ellis presented summary and recommendation. <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2000-1501 -11 — AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 106, SECTION 106-521, TABLE A — INDUSTRIAL USES, <br />SECTION 106-522, TABLE B — INDUSTRIAL AREA REQUIREMENTS, SECTION <br />106-751, SHIPPING CONTAINERS, AND SECTION 106-800, LANDSCAPING, OF <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, AS SAID SECTIONS PERTAIN TO SHIPPING <br />CONTAINERS. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to approve ordinance 1501-II as presented by <br />Mr. Ellis. Second by Councilperson Griffiths. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />8. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing an agreement between the City of <br />La Porte and the La Porte Development Corporation for sales and use tax retention. <br />Assistant City Manager Jeff Litchfield presented summary and recommendation. <br />
