The special called workshop meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:35 P.M. <br /> <br />The following items were discussed during the workshop session: <br /> <br />A. DISCUSS COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC HAULING NON-RADIOACTIVE <br />HAZARDOUS MATERIAL FROM USING NON-HAZMAT ROUTES TO <br />REACH TRUCK TERMINALSIDELIVERY POlNTS - R.T. Herrera <br /> <br />After much discussion and comments between City Council and Mr. Steve Bezdeck of <br />Vintage Petroleum, Inc., it was the consensus of City Council that this is a matter that <br />needs to be worked out between the City of Shoreacres and Vintage Petroleum since <br />Shoreacres Boulevard is the most direct access. Mr. Herrera agreed to provide Vintage <br />Petroleum, Inc. with a letter outlining the City of La Porte's position. The City will allow <br />a day by day extension until this matter can be resolved in the near future. <br /> <br />B. DISCUSS CHARTER PROVISIONS - K. Askins <br /> <br />Mr. Gay expressed concerns on the following matters: <br /> <br />Car allowance and expense reimbursements. <br /> <br />Policy and procedure regarding a council member placing an item on the agenda. <br /> <br />Duties of the Mayor as outlined by City Charter. <br /> <br />Council took a break from 8:09 P.M. to 8:20 P.M. <br /> <br />10. Workshop adjourned and the regular meeting re-convened at 8:50P.M. <br /> <br />11. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br /> <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera reminded Council of the following events: <br /> <br />A. CITY OBSERVES INDEPENDENCE DAY - TUESDAY, JULY 4,2000 <br />B. COUNCIL RETREAT - SATURDAY, JULY 8, 2000 <br />C. NORTHSIDE COMMUNITY MEETING - THURSDAY, JULY 13, 2000 <br />D. REPORT ON SPRING 2000 TRAFFIC HUMP APPLICATIONS <br />E. SEABREEZE PARK - FOURtH OF JULY - Council directed City staff to <br />close the Park at the regular closing time and notify citizens who arrive the Park <br />will not be open for the fU'eworks display. <br /> <br />In addition, Mr. Herrera informed the City Council about an ambulance incident <br />involving the City of Shoreacres and requested they read the report they were provided. <br /> <br />/ <br />
