<br />. <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />City Council Minutes 2/26/01 - Page 2 <br /> <br />The following citizens addressed City Council: <br /> <br />Austin Phillips - 500 S. Virginia, La Porte, Texas 77571 - Mr. Phillips visited the <br />City Council meeting this evening to earn hours towards a Boy Scout badge. <br /> <br />Dave Turnquist - 8503 Ashwyne, La Porte, Texas 77571 - Mr. Turnquist <br />informed Council he was brining this matter before them due to a request he <br />received on a homeowners website from another citizen. The concern is <br />motorcycles and four wheelers operating near the Brookglen flood control canal. <br />They are loud and disruptive to the residents in the subdivision even though there <br />is a posted sign. <br /> <br />Linda Garcia - 902 Maroby, Houston, Texas 77571 - Ms. Garcia presented City <br />Council with a packet and requested they consider changing the name of S.H. 225 <br />to Juan N. Seguin Memorial Highway. <br /> <br />5. PRESENT A TIONS/PROCLAMA TIONS <br /> <br />B. Mayor Pro Tern Clarke proclaimed the month of March as "American Red <br />Cross Month". <br /> <br />C. Mayor Pro Tern Clarke proclaimed the week of March 5 through March 9 as <br />"Texas Public Schools Week". <br /> <br />D. Mayor Pro Tern Clarke proclaimed February 26,2001, as "Education <br />Foundation Celebration Day". <br /> <br />E. Michael Collins, Parts Manager in the Public Works Department, was honored <br />as Employee of the Quarter for the 4th quarter of2000. <br /> <br />F. Bonnie Lopez, recent retiree, was honored for her 20 years' service with the <br />City. <br /> <br />G. A certificate of achievement for financial reporting (CAFR) was presented to <br />The Finance Department. <br /> <br />6. Council considered a resolution authorizing the sale of tax acquired property to <br />Paul Schaider (Res. 2001-02). <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to table this item until a future <br />meeting. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried. <br />
