PUBLIC HEARING - Zoning Ordinance - Council discussed rezone request of a 7-acre <br />area from neighborhood commercial (NC) to high-density residential (R-3) Ord. 1501-00 <br />and R-OI-001. <br /> <br />Open Public Hearing - Mayor Malone opened the Public Hearing at 6: 15 PM. <br /> <br />Review by Staff - Planning Director Doug Kneupper presented summary and answered <br />Council's questions <br /> <br />Public Input - Brad Dill, President BD Realty Advisors, L.L.C., Manager. Mr. Dill- 450 <br />N. Sam Houston Pkwy. East, Suite # 152 Houston, Texas 77060. Mr. Dill addressed <br />Council during the Public Hearing to inform Council of the reasons he was opposed to <br />the rezoning request. <br /> <br />Recommendation of Staff - Planning Director Doug Kneupper informed City Council the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approving this request. <br /> <br />Close Public Hearing - Mayor Malone closed the Public Hearing at 6:47 PM. <br /> <br />6. Council considered approval of Rezone Request # R 01-001 and Ordinance # 1501-00 <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1501-00 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, CHAPTER 106, MORE <br />COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, BY CHANGING THE CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN PARCEL <br />OF LAND DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT; LOTS 69 & 70, PT. OF TR 71 LA <br />PORTE OUTLOTS, TOWN OF LA PORTE; MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS OF <br />FACT RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve Ordinance 1501-00 as <br />presented by Mr.Kneupper and recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Second by Councilperson Porter. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Porter, Clarke and Malone. <br />Nays: Gay and Young <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />7.
