Planning Director Doug Kneupper made recommendation on this item during the public hearing. City Attorney read: ORDINANCE - 150 I-PP - CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, CHAPTER 106, MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY GRANTING A SPECIAL CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR THA T PARCEL OF LAND DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS, TO-WIT; LOTS 1 THROUGH 13 OF BLOCK 79, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; FOR THE PURPOSE OF BUILDING AND OPERATING A CHURCH WITHIN A LOW-DENSITY RESIDENTIAL (R-l) ZONE. Motion was made by Councilperson Gay to approve Ordinance 1501-PP as presented by Mr. Kneupper and recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission. A second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried. Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Malone. Nays: None Abstain: None 9. Council considered approving two ordinances: the first to close, vacate, and abandon the alley in Block 1159, Town of La Porte, also provide for the abandonment of an existing 10" sanitary sewer line located within the alley. Second, consider approval to execute a Special Warranty Deed granting a 100 square foot tract out of Lot 17, Block 1159 to Jack McCoy. Planning Director Doug Kneupper presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2478 - AND ORDINANCE 2001- 2479 AN ORDINANCE V ACA TING ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 1159, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS AND CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AND ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF LA PORTE TO EXECUTE AND DELIVER A SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED TO JACK C. MCCOY OF A FIVE FOOT BY TWENTY-FOOT STRIP OUT OF LOT SEVENTEEN, BLOCK ELEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS.
