<br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL

<br />1. CALL TO ORDER
<br />
<br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m.
<br />
<br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken,
<br />Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, James Warren, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, and Norman
<br />Malone.
<br />
<br />Members of Council Absent: AIton Porter
<br />
<br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: Assistant City Attorney
<br />John Armstrong, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, City Secretary Martha Gillett,
<br />Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, Interim Director of Administrative Services Carol
<br />Buttler, Parks and Recreation Director Stephen Barr, Assistant Parks and Recreation
<br />Director James Eastep, Public Works Director Steve Gillett, Emergency Services
<br />Director Joe Sease, Planning Director Doug Kneupper, Police Chief Richard Reff,
<br />Lieutenant Ron Parker, Planning Coordinator Masood Malik, and Engineer I Carlos
<br />Martinez.

<br />Others Present: Charlie Perry, Marvin C. Summer, Mark Marino, John Oliver, Paul
<br />Larson, Sue Gail Kooken, Dave Turnquist, Nazar Momin, Mike Mosteit, Sib Carpenter,
<br />Spero Pomonis, Nick Barrera, Charles Underwood, Robert McKinney, and a number of
<br />citizens.

<br />2. Reverend, Fran Foger of First United Methodist Church delivered the invocation.
<br />
<br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting on July 23,2001.
<br />
<br />Motion was made by Councilperson Ebow to approve the minutes of the Regular
<br />Meeting on July 23.2001 as presented. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The
<br />motion carried.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone.
<br />Nays: None
<br />Abstain: None

<br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND
<br />T AXP AYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL.
<br />
<br />The following citizens addressed City Council.
<br />
<br />Marvin C. Summer - 5008 Lockwood Houston, TX 77026 addressed council concerning
<br />the closing of North 2nd Street and the alley located in blocks 328 and 329 adjacent to
<br />Barbous Cut Blvd.
