<br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED REGULAR MEETING <br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 7, 2002 <br /> <br />1. Call to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Howard Ebow, Alton Porter, Peter Griffiths, James Warren, Charlie Young, and Norman <br />Malone <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Jerry Clarke <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Attorney Knox <br />Askins, City Manager Robert Herrera, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, City Secretary <br />Martha Gillett, Assistant City Secretary Sharon Harris, Director of Administrative <br />Services Carol Buttler, Purchasing Manager Susan Kelley, Police Chief Richard Reff, <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr, Administrative Assistant to the City <br />Manager Crystal Scott, Director of Finance Cynthia Alexander, and Director of Public <br />Works Steve Gillett <br /> <br />Others Present: Earl R. Ehlers, Tim Stamper, Roy Myers, Kim Meismer, Sib Carpenter, <br />Nick Barrera, Brigitte Barrera, April Davis, Nikia Davis, Matt Koons, Idalia Martinez, <br />Chris Morgado, Carol Mosteit, Morelon Plaza, Le Claire Ebow, and Lucia DeAros. <br /> <br />2. Reverend Danny Wayman of First United Methodist Church of La Porte delivered the <br />invocation. <br /> <br />3. Mayor Norman Malone led in the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />4. Council considered approving the Minutes of the Regular Meeting and Public Hearing on <br />April 22, 2002. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Warren to approve the Minutes of the Regular <br />Meeting and Public Hearing Meeting on April 22. 2002. Second by Councilperson <br />Engelken. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Engelken, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Sutherland, Ebow, Porter and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />5. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />There were not any petitions, remonstrances, communications, or citizens wishing to <br />address Council. <br /> <br />6. Council considered approval or other action regarding an ordinance declaring the results <br />of the election held in the City of La Porte on May 4,2002. <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council's questions. <br />
