• • <br />City Council Minutes 6-04-02 -Page 2 <br />PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS CITY COUNCIL <br />Doug Ashley of 12435 Boheme Drive, Houston, Texas, voiced his concerns regarding the <br />City accepting the bid from Club Car. Mr. Ashley encouraged Council to accept the bid <br />from his company, rather than the one being recommended by Staff. Mr. Ashley advised <br />Council his bid is a better value for the City due to extended warranty, plus newer <br />technology. <br />Marie Meeks of 10422 Quiet Hill Road, La Porte, Texas, voiced her concerns for lack of <br />rodent control in her neighborhood. <br />7. Council considered approval or other action regarding an ordinance declaring the results <br />of the Run-Off Election held in the City of La Porte on June 1, 2002, for the Run-Off <br />Election of a City Counciperson at Large Position B. <br />City Attorney Knox Askins presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2002-257 - AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE <br />RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON <br />JUNE 1, 2002, FOR THE ELECTION OF A COUNCILPERSON-AT-LARGE - <br />POSITION B; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Griffiths to approve an ordinance declaring the results <br />of the Run-Off Election held in the City of La Porte on June 1 2002 as presented b~Mr <br />Askins. Second by Councilperson Young. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Engelken, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Mosteit, Meismer, Ebow, Porter, and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />8. Mayor Malone administered the Oaths of Office to our new Councilperson Barry Beasley. <br />9. Council considered approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing a <br />Councilperson to the City Council Audit Committee, to fill the unexpired term of Alton <br />Porter. <br />Mayor Norman Malone presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. Mayor Malone nominated Councilperson James Warren and asked for other <br />nominations. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2002-2558 - AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A <br />COUNCILPERSON TO THE CITY COUNCIL AUDIT COMMITTEE, TO FILL THE <br />UNEXPIRED TERM OF ALTON PORTER; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />
