City Council Minutes — 2/249— Page 3 • <br />Abstain: None <br />8. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the Acting City Manager to execute <br />contract with Garver Construction, LTD for the construction of the Farrington Blvd. Phase II <br />Trunk Sewer Improvements in the amount of $124,975.00. Additionally, authorize a 5% <br />contingency in the amount of $6,248.00. <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett presented summary and answered Council's questions. <br />The Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2003-2615 — AN ORDINANCE APPROVING <br />AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND GARVER <br />CONSTRUCTION, LTD, INC., FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE FARRINGTON TRUNK <br />SEWER, APPROPRIATING $124,975.00 PLUS A CONTINGENCY OF $6,248.00, TO FUND <br />SAID CONTRACT, MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO <br />THE SUBJECT, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW, <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Ebow to approve Ordinance 2003-2615 as presented by <br />Mr. Gillett. Second by Councilmember Engelken. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Beasley, Warren, Young, Meismer and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />9. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the Acting City Manager to execute a <br />contract with NBG Constructors, Inc. bid for setting pilings, construction of bridge abutments, <br />and installation of a Prefabricated Steel Pedestrian Bridge over Little Cedar Bayou at the P <br />Street R.O.W., low bidder meeting specifications. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr presented the summary and answered Council's <br />questions. <br />The Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2003-2616 — AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE AND NBG CONSTRUCTORS, INC. TO PROVIDE AND INSTALL <br />PILINGS, ABUTMENTS, AND OTHER RELATED COMPONENTS FOR INSTALLATION <br />OF PREFABRICATED STEEL PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER LITTLE CEDAR BAYOU; <br />APPROPRIATING $82,066.00 TO FUND SAID AGREEMENT; MAKING VARIOUS <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />On the Bid Tabulation for the sidewalk, under NBG Inc., line item number 8 appears to be <br />incorrect. The Harris County grant award must be expended or committed by April, or they will <br />be subject to recapture. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Beasley to approve Ordinance 2003-2616 with intended <br />correction on the Bid Tabulation as presented by Mr. Barr. Second by Councilmember Warren. <br />The motion carried. <br />
