Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance establishing the tax rate for the Fiscal Year 2005-06 at $0.71 cents per hundred dollar valuation. Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read ORDINANCE 2005-2838- AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES UPON TAXABLE PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN AND SUBJECT TO TAXATION IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE, AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF SAID CITY OF LA PORTE; FINDING THAT ALL REQUIRED NOTICES HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED AND ALL REQUIRED HEARINGS HELD; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILTY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF Motion was made by Councilmember Clausen to approve Ordinance 2005-2838 as presented by Mr. Dolby. Second by Council member Ebow. The motion carried unanimously. Ayes: Engelken, Moser, Clausen, Griffiths, Mosteit, Rigby, Ebow, Beasley and Porter Nays: None Abstain: None 10. Council to discuss appointing an official Voting Delegate and Alternate Delegate for the City of La Porte at the National League of Cities Conference. Motion was made by Councilmember Griffiths for Howard Ebow as delegate and Barry Beasley as Alternate Delegate. Second by Louis Rigby. Motion carried unanimously. Ayes: Engelken, Moser, Clausen, Griffiths, Mosteit, Rigby, Ebow, Beasley and Porter. Nays: None Abstain: None 11. Close Regular Meeting and Open Workshop at 7:07 p.m. A. Council to receive report from City Manager on status of various control projects in La Porte and provide direction. It was noted this item is to be brought back to a future meeting and have Director Mike Talbot present for discussions. B. Council to receive presentation from Brian Sterling on GIS Website Application. GIS Manager Brian Sterling provided Council with an overview and answered questions. C. Council to discuss Boards and Commissions vacancies and provide staff with direction.
