Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance approving renewal of an Agreement <br />with The Alliance to provide economic development services. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager John Joerns presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br /> <br />Jan Lawler, Executive Director of Economic Alliance Port of Houston Region provided Council with an <br />update on Project Stars, interactions with TXDot and upcoming Coffee Symposium. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read ORDINANCE 2850- AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE ECONOMIC <br />ALLIANCE HOUSTON PORT REGION, ("CONTRACTOR"), A TEXAS NON-PROFIT <br />CORPORATION; FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SERVICES; APPROPRIATING NOT TO <br />EXCEED $20,000 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING V ARlOUS FINDINGS AND <br />PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Engelken to approve Ordinance 2850 as presented by Mr. Joerns. <br />Second by Council member Ebow. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Engelken, Ebow, Clausen, Moser, Beasley, Rigby and Mayor Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />8.
