<br />City Council Regular Meeting and Public Hearing -March 13, 2006 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Griffiths to approve Resolution 2006-06 as presented by Mr. Dolby. <br />Second by Council member Beasley. The motion carried <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Griffiths and Mayor Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />10. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance amending Fiscal Year 2005-06 Budget for <br />$50,000 for the purchase of Laser Fiche document imaging software from City Council Reserve for Special <br />Projects. Increase capital projects budget by $23,460.00 for fence at Sylvan Beach and playground equipment at <br />Spenwick. Also increase HotellMotel budget by $133,850 for signature & tree beautification and increase the <br />general fund, utility, utility capital improvement Sylvan Beach, motor pool, general capital improvement, <br />technology fund, hotel motel, and grant funds for $1,037,063 for encumbrances (approved on October 24,2005). <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Cynthia Alexander presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2762-1- AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE <br />FISCAL YEAR 2005-06 ADOPTED BUDGET OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Engelken to approve the Ordinance 2762-1 as presented by Ms. Alexander <br />Second by Council member Griffiths . The motion carried <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Griffiths, Engelken and Mayor Porter. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />11. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance approving a sales tax election to be held May <br />13,2006. <br /> <br />City Attorney Clark Askins presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2875-AN ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TO PERMIT VOTING FOR OR AGAINST THE PROPOSITION: <br />"THE ADOPTION OF A LOCAL SALES USE TAX IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AT THE RATE OF ONE- <br />FOURTH OF ONE PERCENT TO PROVIDE REVENUE FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF <br />MUNICIPAL STREETS"; DESIGNATING VOTING PRECINCTS AND POLLING PLACES; PROVIDING <br />FOR THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES; PROVIDING FOR METHOD AND DATES OF EARLY VOTING; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EARLY VOTING BALLOTT BOARD; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS <br />OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Engelken to approve the Ordinance 2875- as presented by Mr. Askins. <br />Second by Council member Griffiths. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance approving an agreement between the City and <br />the Bay Area Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau. <br />
