<br />City Council Regular Meeting, Workshop Meeting and Public Hearing -June 12,2006 <br /> <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins read: ORDINANCE 2896; AN ORDINANCE APPROVING <br />AND AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND <br />THE GOVERNOR'S DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT FOR <br />P ARTICIP A TION IN THE BUFFER ZONE PROTECTION PLAN GRANT PROGRAM; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDING AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEET INS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council member Beasley to approve the Ordinance 2896 as presented <br />by Mr. Reff. Second by Council member Griffiths. The motion carried <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Ebow, Clausen, Griffiths and Mayor. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />18. Close Regular Meeting and Open Workshop at 7:26 p.m. <br /> <br />A. Council received a report from Chief Richard Reff on HB 867 Sex Offenders Law. <br />Council directed staff to publish all offenders in newspaper, web & cable channel. <br /> <br />B. Council received a report from Chief Richard Reff on Sex Offenders Safety Zone & a <br />proposed ordinance as to whether or not to draft an ordinance establishing a 1,000 foot <br />safety zone for children. <br /> <br />Council directed staff to bring back at 1500 & 2000 ft. <br />Council did not concur with holding property owner's responsible. <br /> <br />Council took a 5 minute recess at 8:05 p.m. and returned continued regular meeting at 8:15 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />C. Council received a report from Building Official Debbie Wilmore on Dangerous <br />Buildings <br /> <br />5 voluntary consent <br /> <br />1. 2910 & 2910 Y2 - Old Highway 146 signed voluntary consent. <br />2. 106 Bay Oaks - no objection to demolishing - may sign consent <br />3. 202 Forest - owner requested what to do to comply <br />4. 819 W. Main - voluntary consent <br />5. 602 E Main - owner may want to restore or demo to let city know <br />6. 525 Nth 3rd - still in city's name but was purchased. Owner will probably tear <br />down. No objection to demolish. <br />7. 417 Nth 4th street - no contact with owner <br />8. 428 Nth 4th Street - owner may want to demolish <br />9. 306 Nth 5th Street - no contact <br />10. 216th - No contact <br />11. 11624 Nth L Street - voluntary consent <br />12. 11627 Nth L Street - voluntary consent <br /> <br />Council directed to staff to publish and granted July 10th Public Hearing <br />
