<br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING OF THE LA PORTE CITY <br />COUNCIL <br />October 8, 2007 <br /> <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tern Rigby at 6:08 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Pro Tern Rigby, Council members Tommy Moser, <br />Mike Clausen, Georgia Malone, Howard Ebow, Mike Mosteit, Barry Beasley and Chuck <br />Engelken. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Mayor Porter. <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: Assistant City Attorney <br />Clark Askins, Planning Director Wayne Sabo, Interim Finance Director Michael Dolby, <br />City Secretary Martha Gillett, Interim Acting City Manager Director Steve Gillett, <br />Purchasing Manager Susan Kelley, Buyer Cherelle Daeumer, Police Sergeant Deaumer, <br />Patrol Officer Matt Novosad, Building Official Debbie Wilmore, Lieutenant Deardorff, <br />Administrative Assistant Michelle Bedford, Assistant Fire Chief John Dunham and Chief of <br />Police Richard Reff. <br /> <br />Others Present: John Handy of Houston Chronicle, Adam Yanelli of Bay shore Sun, Pat <br />Reff, Shar Lynch, Margaret Compton, Fred Hanzelka, Alta Nute, Charles Nute, David Janda, <br />James Stout, Bob Klassen, Cheryl Harper, Trent Wise, Frank Fullbright, Debbie Styron, <br />Ronda Lunsford, Kyle Jones, J. McKown, Robyn Gallion and other citizens. <br /> <br />2. Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins delivered the invocation. <br /> <br />3. Mayor Pro Tern Rigby led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />4. PRESENTATIONS / PROCLAMATIONS <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tern Rigby and Police Chief Richard Reffpresented "Employee of the (Third) <br />Quarter to Michelle Bedford from the Police Department. <br /> <br />5. Consent Agenda <br /> <br />A. Consider approving Minutes of the Regular Meeting Public Hearing and Workshop <br />Meeting of La Porte City Council held on September 24, 2007. <br /> <br />B. Council to consider approval or other action regarding ordinance 1000-I-S <br />amending Chapter 6 of the code of ordinances of the City of La Porte by approving <br />an alcohol permit for Tony's Barbecue and Steakhouse, Inc.. <br /> <br />C. Council to consider approval or other action for awarding bid # 07031 for <br />demolition of buildings in the amount of $32,204.00. <br /> <br />D. Council to consider approval or other action for awarding bid # 07029 for the City <br />Wide Sidewalk In-fill Project in the amount of$59,177.08 and to establish a <br />contingency of$7,360.00 which will also be used to help fund additional areas <br />where new sidewalks are needed. <br />
